The ongoing push for digitalisation gets a boost this week as Smart Nation Expo 2023 is opening its doors for its delegates to experience a massive showcase of next-gen city planning concepts and technologies.
Held alongside the Electric Vehicle (EV), Mobility Technology, Auto Parts and Component Expo (EVM Asia 2023), this business-to-busines event brings together industry leaders to network, learn, and engage with one another.
Key topics for this event that will be discussed among delegates, shared during keynotes, and be focused on for ongoing research are 5G deployment, smart city development and implementation, emerging super-apps, the digital economy, and next-gen town-planning and urban mobility management.
Taiwan, one of the key partners for Smart Nation Expo 2023, pulled out all the stops as it brought two major platforms to the Malaysian-bound tech conference — Taiwan Digital Day and the Taiwan Smart Manufacturing Pavillion.

“(Personally,) the cooperation between Taiwan and Malaysia will be a win-win for the manufacturing industry. From the various solutions being shown, it is clear that there are mutually beneficial partnerships that can be developed from this event,” said Cynthia Kiang, Director-General, Taiwan Bureau of Foreign Trade.
With the former, the Administration for Digital Industries and Ministry of Digital Affairs of Taiwan (ADI, MODA) brought a delegation of eight digital technology companies and the Institute for Information Industry (III) to the Smart Nation Expo. Their participation is included in this year’s Taiwan Digital Day that ADI, MODA also put together for Smart Nation Expo on September 20.
All eight companies showcased their solution offerings at pavilion and also facilitated business matching sessions with Malaysian counterparts during Taiwan Digital Day. These include companies that specialise in smart retail and property, eCommerce, and systems integration.

The latter, meanwhile, is the primary launch platform for participating Taiwanese companies from the manufacturing sector. It also hosted to multiple business matching meetings and helped solidify the Malaysian-Taiwanese trade relationship that is in place.
“Through this event, we hope to strengthen cooperation on supply chains between Taiwan and Malaysia, to become the ideal strategic partner for each other,” said Laurie Wang, Honorary Chairman, Taiwan Electronic Equipment Industry Association.
Having a huge presence at Smart Nation Expo from Taiwan shows how critical this event is for the technology segment. Beyond reinforcing its commitment to Malaysia, ADI, MODA will also continue to expand its relationship with various partners in the local tech scene.
Beyond the comprehensive engagement with Taiwan, Smart Nation Expo 2023 is also working closely with ASEAN members and trading partner countries to facilitate smart technology development and deployment for government, agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, education, healthcare, energy, and communications.

“Over 500 delegates and 38 speakers are expected to attend (various events around Smart Nation Expo). This includes the Digital Economy Leaders’ Summit, Asia Smart Cities Summit, and Asia Electric Vehicles and Mobility Forum — all of which will help attendees get up to speed on the latest digital and e-mobility arena development,” said Dr Mohd Nasir Ashraf, Chairman, Smart Nation Expo.
It is clear that Smart Nation Expo 2023 and its related events is the go-to conference for next-gen tech and digital services. Having Taiwan and other nations that lead in the technology and digital transformation.
