In wanting to play a pivotal role in Malaysia’s progression towards renewable energy, Siemens partnered up with Progressture Power (Progressture Solar) to create collaborative engagements with relevant stakeholders.

In this case, it would be the Malaysia Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change as it oversees, manages, and implements the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). The agencies and all related industry segments will also be the segments that both Siemens and Progressture Solar are planning to approach.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which had been signed at Smart Nation Expo 2023, will bring together solutions that help small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) achieve the following:

  • Integrate functions that enable energy efficiency
  • Enable substantial emission reductions
  • Drive sustainability and best practices for businesses

For both signatories, they are aligned on achieving the end-goal — simplify the adoption of renewable energy solutions and enable energy efficiencies through easy and accessible ownership models. This will mostly focus on developing tailored solutions that can address the needs of SMEs.

This will, in turn, drive Malaysia’s efforts to halve carbon emissions by 2030 — a target that the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 had set. At the same time, both Siemens and Progressture Solar will also contribute their efforts towards achieving net-zero emissions in 2050, a core aspiration for the NETR.

“We are keenly aware of the challenges that businesses face when adopting clean energy solutions and (power) efficient tech. That is why we are committed to present a wide spectrum of accessible and easy ownership models — be it zero capital expenditure, outright purchasing, or flexible leasing. Our goal is to ensure accessibility for all, regardless of their energy needs and financial standing,” said Ng Yew Weng, Co-Founder and COO, Progressture Solar.

For Ng, this goal is achievable as Siemens is already a well-established global tech mainstay that is already working on various green tech systems.

With this partnership, both Siemens and Progressture Solar will be able to develop specific solutions that help SMEs reduce their carbon footprint, lower their emissions, and ensure they can meet their sustainability targets.

“Siemens is committed to transform the (heavy industries) and infrastructure sectors of Malaysia through digitalisation and automation. (With this new partnership,) the means to drive sustainable practices and energy efficiencies that we offer are now easily accessible to all SMEs,” added Tindaro Danze, President and CEO, Siemens Malaysia.
