Besides its recently announced partnership with RHB Banking Group to make financing for green technologies more accessible to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with Huawei Malaysia to integrate Huawei digital solutions with TNB’s energy transition agenda.
The signing between TNB and Huawei, which took place at the Energy Transition Conference 2023 in August 2023, will see TNB leveraging with Huawei digital solutions and capabilities to give SMEs the means to start their green energy journey.

For TNB, this partnership will also power its ongoing modernisation efforts and accelerate the digitalisation of its information and communication technology (ICT) offerings, functions, and infrastructure. Critical to this transformation is how it is focused strongly on operational sustainability, efficient productivity, and seamless communication.
“Digitalisation is the key enabler for enery transition. The partnership with Huawei (and RHB) will empower TNB to drive forward its energy transition (efforts) and also tap into next-gen technologies that power new opportunities within the green energy sector. (For TNB), it is not just about envisioning a sustainable future, but also (very much) about actively constructing it,” said Ir. Baharin Din, President and CEO, TNB.
He also shared how the partnership with Huawei is pivotal as it actively promotes sustainable business practices and advance these new efforts for TNB.

“This, along with the RHB arrangement, aligns perfrectly with TNB’s Net Zero 2050 aspirations and Malaysia’s carbon-neutrality targets,” he added.
With this new partnership, Huawei will play an active role in upcoming TNB roadshows that shine the spotlight on green energy, sustainable best practices for businesses, and various solutions that drive renewable energy efforts.
