As the volume of tourists visiting Malaysia continues to grow, there is a growing need for a seamless and streamlined payment process for these visitors — Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) grasp this point early on and launched the MY TouristPay app.

It is the first mobile payment solution in Malaysia that had developed specifically for tourists to ensure they can make payments for meals, goods, and services via the DuitNow QR code.

Tourists visiting Malaysia just need to download the app from Google Play store, tie in their credit or debit card that will be used for primary payment, and use this new fintech solution to scan the DuitNow QR code for any transaction.

PayNet confirmed in the FAQ that the My TouristPay app will be available on Apple App Store and Huawei AppGallery soon.

“For the first time ever, tourists can seamlessly and securely transact at over 1.9 million DuitNow QR enabled merchants across Malaysia. They don’t need to pay with physical cash. We expect this initiative to bosot sales for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) around Malaysia, specifically those that don’t accept cards (as a form of payment),” said Farhan Ahmad, CEO, PayNet.

Beyond being a mobile payment app for tourists, the platform also shares travel tips and latest happenings in the location they are visiting. This is to encourage tourists to check out the sights and sounds of Malaysia that they are likely to miss.
