The Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia enterprise development programme shortlisted 15 entrepreneurs for its intensive incubator workshop and three-month accelerator programme.
Also known as the 2022 cohort for the Shell entrepreneur engagement platform, these 15 have been picked from the 180 entreprenuers who signed up for the 2022 competition. Interestingly, this is the first time Shell ran this initiative at a national level.

The 15 had undergone both training sessions to sharpen their entrepreneurial abilities and business management skills so as to be ready for the final pitching competition. From that, five have emerged as winners and received a RM30,000 seed grant each.
The five – BeeBag, manekNya, Qarbotech, Hong Xin Food, and Satok Bridge Area Consulting Engineers – also have the opportunity to share their knowledge and learn from an extensive global Shell LiveWIRE alumnus; be a part of Shell’s value chain; and be in the running to compete for the annual Shell Global Top Ten Innovators Awards.

All competitors have been assessed on their pitch, the business model that they have developed, how they want to rollout and scale, overall traction of the business, and operational management.

“It’s truly inspiring to witness our local entrepreneurs, who are not only empowering themselves through their business ventures, but also striving to create a sustainable ecosystem to uplift their surrounding communities,” said Siti Sulaiman, Country Chair and Upstream Malaysia Senior Vice-President, Shell Malaysia.
Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia originally started from 2015 in Sabah and then moved to Sarawak in 2016. With the goal of inspiring young entrepreneurs to create new and sustainable business solutions that can address current socio-economic needs. From the inception of this programme, Shell had partnered with the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) Digital Village & Digital Innovation Hub.
“(With this partnership, we can (surely) accelerate the growth of local start-ups and elevate them to the next level,” said Len Talif Salleh, Chairman, TEGAS and Sarawak Deputy Minister, Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment.
Reinforcing this point and in wanting to inspire even more participation from Sarawak, TEGAS awarded an additional cash prize of RM20,000 to the winner that hails from Sarawak – Satok Bridge Area Consulting Engineers.

Registration for this year’s Shell LiveWIRE had already closed. Even so, those keen on following the event, learn more about it, and get real-time updates can visit the main-page for this event.
